    Default Constant already defined

I was having a problem with a blank page showing after checkout confirmation - so I searched the forum and found a suggestion to add a local/configure.php file to set strict error reporting on. Did this but now every page has a 'million' errors - of the type:
Notice: Constant FOOTER_TEXT_BODY already defined in /home/davidanu/public_html/includes/languages/english.php on line 16

appears to be all the defines in english.php that are generating errors like this.

    Anyone got any ideas?

Forgot to mention - it's a 1.38a site. Also tried it on an existing 1.37 site and got exactly the same problem

Those are "notice" messages, and are not critical. They can be safely ignored.

You need to look for "error" or "fatal error" messages.

I guessed that they weren't critical as my 1.37 site works perfectly - but I am a bit worried as to why Zen Cart tries to define all these constants more than once. Surely that's very inefficient.

Inefficient in some ways, yes. But it's sure stopped a lot of upgraders from shooting themselves in the foot when they refuse to follow the upgrade instructions because they think it's too laborious.

There will be changes in a future release; but for now, the duplication is actually a safety.
