Default What causes an "Internal Server Error"?

    Hello everyone,

What causes an error 500-Internal server error?

My website started having this error for customers when they add multiple items to the shopping cart.

My website is hosted with 1and1 and I haven't changed anything with my website recently.

    Any suggestions or ideas?

    Thanks in advance,
    Ben

    Thanks for the response!

Is there a way to "debug" such an error? I have the debugging utility installed but this doesn't bring up any error.

    Thanks,
    Ben

My suggestion... find another host. 1and1 hasn't had very good press recently...

Check with them and see if they changed anything on their servers,
also try renaming your htaccess file see if that fixes it

    500 Internal Server Error
The server encountered an unexpected condition that prevented it from fulfilling the request.

    Most common mistakes:
    - script not uploaded in ASCII
    - server/file permission set incorrectly
    - syntax error within the script itself
    - server missing required PERL module(s)

If you haven't changed anything on your site and problems start to occur, always best to first check with your Hoster and see if they changed anything. At the least, they should be able to quickly help sort out the problem.
