ver 1.3.8 breadcrumb question

Went to admin and turned off breadcrumbs, they appear as before on all pages still there, found posting on site but no answers. Any suggestions.

Did you do this:
admin panel/ configuration/ layout settings/ Define Breadcrumb Status

1. set this to 0

I thought I did, I went back and checked your info and it corrected my issue, I must have looked at the wrong selection eariler, thanks for your answer.
