Default Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file

    Hi Guy’s,
it’s taken me three days and I’ve only just managed to install Zen cart, and I can tell you it’s been three days from hell,

    Now I’m getting this message,

Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/fhlinux149/s/scrapbookingmad.com/user/htdocs/store/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file (read-only, CHMOD 644 or 444 are typical). You may need to use your webhost control panel/file-manager to change the permissions effectively. Contact your webhost for assistance. See this FAQ

I’ve deleted the zc_install folder but when I tried to change the 2 configuer.php files back to read only it wouldn’t work, I phoned my web host and they have said that I need to get SSH, I’ve had a little read about this but really just don’t know if I’m capable of doing it,

Is there anybody out there that could help me with this?

Also I’m not sure if this problem has created another problem or if it’s a separate problem but when I go to my admin page there seems to be an error,

I have a list of the following but when i click on them nothing happens,

    Configuration
    Catalog
    Modules
    Customers
    Locations / taxes
    Localization
    Reports
    Tools
    Gift certificates / coupons
    Extras

Just to let you know that my current website is running, I don’t know if this affects it,

I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, but if your host requires that you use SSH to change file permissions, you need a new host. My host doesn't even allow SSH access.

You did try to change the permissions using the file manager in your hosts control panel, right?

snarfy, why don't you mention this problem is being handled in another of your threads?
That will keep people from getting confused.

BTW, sounds like your Host doesn't know what they are doing, if they cannot take the 5 minutes necessary to fix the problem for you; or don't know how.

A search for 'fasthosts' on this forum suggests that my original advice 'you need a new host' is the right one.

It appears that fasthost only offers a control panel as an extra-cost option.

Please do yourself a big favor and consider the Zencart-approved hosts under 'hosting'at the top of this page.

Ok, I may well consider that I’ll have a look now,

The problem is I’ve just paid out for a database so I’ll lose the cash for that!!

I posted a message in the commercial help wanted and I’ve got a guy who’s willing to help me get the site set up so that I can work on it my self,

    What do you think?
Will he be able to sort it or will he come across the same problems?

A good Coder can do whatever Zen Cart work needs to be done without the need for a Hosting Control Panel.
