Hello Zencart Dudes!
is it possible to set a different shipping price per individual item or by category?
The shipping module for Per Unit perweightunit is designed to use the products_weight field as the shipping cost ...
This is one method of building in specific shipping costs on a per product basis ...

Hello Ajeh,
yeah I enabled that but where do you alter the costs? if I put say 1 in the weight field it gives a best way of 5.00 where can I change that?
When you add/edit products there is a the Product Weight or products_weight field, plus you can add weight on attributes as well ...
If you enter 3.00 you get $3.00 shipping, if you enter 4.75 you get $4.75 shipping ...

Its okay I found it .......I think![]()
HI, I think this is how I am going to have to set up shipping, but I am selling hats and accessories,
a. 1 hat would be $11.90 and each hat after that would be $5.00 each. This would be fine if in the same order it was only hats, but they will be able to add a crocodile hat band (and other accessories as well ) to the hat which would only be $6.00 for the first and $3.00 for each after that, or maybe even free shipping with the hat. The could also order a cap or belt when they order a hat, which would mean you would only want to charge the shipping of the cap as an extra item, not the price as a first item. I am working all these extras in with attributes but I though maybe postage could be worked that way as well. Any Ideas??
I hope this makes sense.

OK, I dont think I explained it very well. I have 3 shipping zones around the world. I also have 3 shipping pricing scales. They are worked like this in one zone, and the prices vary, but work the same in the other zones.
First Hat $15.00
Each Hat after that $9.00
First Hatband $8.00
Each Hatband after that $3.00
First Cap $11.00
Each Cap after that $5.00
I could do the zone shipping fine but is there anyway of making an order of 1 hat and 1 hatband be $15 for the first hat and then drop to $3.00 for the second hatband.
I have just spotted an australian shipping module does that cover this pricing scale, I might load that up now.

I have the same problem. Has anyone got a solution to this?

If you are really saying 1st Product is $6.00 more ... use $6.00 on the handling fee ...
If you need to use $6.00 more on each 1st Product of the 2 Products, you would need to customize a module to check for what is in the cart and alter the shipping based on the counts ...
NOTE: 1 of your examples is $5.00 difference where the other 2 are at $6.00 difference so you may need to adjust that for the handling fee method ...
