    Default Is It Customizable?

    Hello,

This is my first post here so "hi everyone!"

I haven't downloaded the Zen Software yet...I was wondering if it can be used on existing websites or does I have to use its templates? I'm new at this shopping cart thing but I was wanting something that would work on my site without having to use a template.

    Thank you

Zen Cart is designed to be your website and you can skin/template it to match most any design.

It is not meant to be used in pieces i.e. add to cart, buy now etc on another type of page and this is due to the security and tracking sessions that are used.

    Thanks for quit reply.

What I would like to do is have a program where the customer can put things in thier shopping cart then buy them, you know, like you see all the time, but I would like it to work on the kind of site I have in mind. I would like to maybe change the "shopping cart" icon to something that fits in with the theme of the site and have some pages that don't have products on them. Also have the "check-out" page graphics look a little different. But I would like use the whole program. Can I do that with this software. I hope so. If not, do you know what I should be looking for or point me in the right direction?

    Thanks

You can make Zen Cart look like anything you want. Some layouts will take more knowledge than others to achieve. Look at the "Zen Cart Hall of Fame" link in forum member Kuroi's sig for some examples. Also check out (sorry, site offline) to see the free templates in action.

EZ-Pages are ideal for adding non-shopping content, and you can replace any stock buttons, icons, etc. with your own images.

Zencart will do exactly what you want. There's a download page where you can check out the many designs of template. If you like one you simply have to down load it and follow the instructions to get it onto your site. If all you really want is a colour scheme that matches your website, with your logo and maybe an image or two, then I'd suggest using the template called barebones. I've changed this successfully many times and my latest effort is on my website now.

Take a look at http://(sorry, site offline)/ to see the free templates available for Zen Cart "in action". Select the one closest to the look you want and download it to see how the look was achieved. You can then change it to suit your needs.
