how to customize with templates?

Hello Zenners,
I'm brandspanking new to Zencart and hope I'm not asking questions which seem too obvious to you.
I've cruised the forum and found that I can/should be able to (LOL) customize my site with templates. I downloaded the newest version 1.3.8a,it's installed and up 'n running.
I downloaded both Cherry Zen and SilverFish, unzipped them, FTPed them to my server.... now what?
They're in the /includes folder in the same hierarchy they were before.
When I try to edit the templates from the admin - tools - link right in the shop I can only see the "classic green" template option. It gives me an option to change the language or edit this specific template, but does not "update" to include the new ones.
What am I forgetting?
Again, sorry if this seems quite obvious to you guys, I'm still residing in blissful (yet frustrating) oblivion.

I had a similar problem, so what I did was unzip them on my desktop, then go into my files and replace the actual file with the actual file. Using an FTP seemed to get them lost. So basically, I went into the files and clicked through includes / languages / english / modules/

then did exactly the same with the one on my desk top and then clicked upload file and made sure to tick the override box.

With a complicated template this may mean a lot of tedious work, but it will be accurate. I only use a basic one, so its not really a problem for me. When I go back into admin, I make sure to reload the page.

Open your Admin panel and navigate to tools -> template selection. Click the Edit button, then choose the template(s) you've uploaded from the dropdown menu and click the Update button. Now, navigate to tools -> layout boxes controller and at the bottom of the page click the Reset button.
