    Default Customisation help

I am trying customise my site using ftp i know little about ftp so a easy to use program would be a good start. Also the main reason i want to do this is to add a site map to be indexed by google. I can use the admin area but using ftp is new so any help would be apreciated.

    regards

    Luke

FTP is simply a tool to transfer files between computers (typically, from your own machine to a remote server).

All customization is done by MODIFYING files prior to loading such files on your server.

If you want to create sitemaps (typically xml for Google) then try the sitemaps module in the downloads section.

    Exactly right.

A couple of good, free FTP clients are SmartFTP and Filezilla.

All the Zencart files are on the server in whatever directory you installed them in.

If it's the root directory (that is, if when you load www.yoursite.com into your browser, your Zencart site shows up) it's probably the public_html folder.

If you are going to edit php files, you'll need a good text editor like Notepad+ or Crimson Editor.

If you mean INDEXING in the sense of creating an INDEX of pages for search engines, then NO, zencart does not index html pages.

As mentioned earlier, for sitemaps, consider using the Google Sitemap tool in the downloads section of this site.
