Discount Coupon issues

I added a discount coupon to make a certain product free, and only with orders over $50.

The minimum order is 50
No zone restrictions
shipping unchecked
uses per coupon 999
uses per customer 1

Restrictions:
ALL - Deny
Product restrictions:
My selected product - Allow

When i look up my discount coupon i get the following:

Discount Coupon Restrictions

Category Restrictions:


(Not allowed on this category)
Product Restrictions:


Panola Bat`s Brew (Valid for this product)

My issue is when it comes to step 3 in checkout - I get the confirmation "your discount coupon has been applied" But down under order total is is NOT applied. I have found through hours of testing that if i allow the entire category it will apply and add the discount, so i have not found a way to sucessfuly set this up.

IDEALLY - i would like a way to automaticaly make this product FREE ONLY with orders over $50 without having to enter the coupon code, OR upon entering a coupon code have the product added to cart with no charge.

What version of Zen Cart?
What addons/contributions do you have installed?
Can you share the URL?

I cannot repeat any errors on a Discount Coupon setup with:

Categories:
Deny All ...

Products:
Allow 1 Product marked

Coupon Amount: 100%
Coupon Minimum Order: 50.00
Uses Per Coupon: 99
Uses Per Customer: 1

This is using Zen Cart v1.3.8x ...

I am on v. 1.3.7

I have the coupons set up as stated above.

There are numerous issues in v1.3.7 that have long been corrected in v1.3.8x and that could be part of the problem here ...

I do not have an old v1.3.7 to test with at this time ...

You might try a test install of v1.3.8a and see if that doesn't correct your issues and if so, look at upgrading to the current code ...
