quantity discount same attribute/different products

my website is selling photos, and its been a chore trying to link individual images with ways of buying them.

right now i have 'note card' as an attribute for each product (the different images). i would like a discount after a dozen. problem is, the attribute discount only applies if someone orders 12 of the same image, for all the obvious reasons. i would like the customer to be able to add a variety of images to select their dozen. is this possible without too much coding?

perhaps there is another, more zenlike approach to what I am trying to achieve?
