Single Product with Multiple Quantities of the Same Attribute

I would have to have a firm understanding of all the nuances to even take a stab at developing a solution for this if possible at all. Not really an issue that can be answered in this forum environment in a few responses to your questions.

Can you structure your data in such a way as to have less than 1000 members in a dropdown list? Perhaps break it down by card type, manufacturer, etc.?

To put it a different way....

If I had a widget XYZ that had three different attributes....

Blue Buttons
Green Buttons
Red Buttons

but XYZ could have up to 500 blue buttons AND up to 500 green buttons AND up to 500 red buttons all at the same time.

I wouldn't want to have a drop down with 500 values for each attribute -- that would drive my customers nuts.

What I am looking for is for the customer to be able to select product XYZ and then select his attributes with quantities.
XYZ>
Blue Buttons 23
Green Buttons 15
Red Buttons 10

To make matters worse, in my application the number of different "button colors" would be around 30.


Any ideas???
