What php.ini settings could I set or tweak to improve ZenCart performance?

Or does php.ini settings don't have any effect on ZenCart?

Is this what is settable in a shared hosting environment?
Or on a dedicated server where you have full access/control?

For both dedicated server and shared webhost. Client is on shared webhost, but may need to switch to dedicated server.

What type of bandwidth are you consuming monthly that you need a dedicated?
Or have you been duped/forced by your hosts suggestion that you should be on a dedicated?

I doubt that you will find a host that will divulge their server settings - Most have an inordinate investment in time testing and re-testing tweaks to settings and even though they are just settings they are viewed as property.

In a shared environment - the few things that you can adjust would be to insure gzip is enabled if it is not, php mem is at least 32MB and maybe 64MB - must watch for using too many services for too long and this depends on the # of products to some extent.
