Cross sell sidebox

Hi guys:

Thanks for your efforts Steve. I've been trying to get the xsell products displaying in a sidebox for ages (http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=58146)!!!

I installed the recently updated mod but there are 2 serious problems. The cross-sell mod itself is working fine.

First, on pages that do not have cross-sell products, I get the following error showing up in the side column: "Fatal error: Cannot use string offset as an array in /home/mysite/public_html/includes/templates/mysite/sideboxes/tpl_xsell_sidebox.php on line 57".

Second...as mentioned previously, for products with cross-sell products, the sidebox shows up with a text link but no image.

I'm running Zen 1.3.7. I'm not a programmer so any advice is appreciated.

OK...after many hours of fiddling I think I have a version of this that works...

I made two changes to Steve's version (see attached files):

First, I modified the "IF" statement in xsell_sidebox.php so that the sidebox is displayed only on pages with xsell data.

Second, I deleted the first "IF" statements in tpl_xsell_sidebox.php. I have no idea why this code was present, but removing it allows images of the products to be displayed properly.

If there is a "real" programmer out there that could check over these for us?

Seriously, you should put an updated version of this mod on the downloads section.. works perfectly!!

Quick question though: Is there a way to display the cross sell products on 2 columns instead of 1 ?

By two column, do you mean you want to display the cross sell products in the center column?

The original cross sell mod (http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...products_id=76) does this...

Actually i was looking at 2 columns within the sidebox.

In the original version, you can set the "Cross-Sell Products Columns per Row". But it seems it has no effect on the Sidebox version.
So i guess it's in tpl_xsell_sidebox.php... but i can't see what needs to be modified to get 2 columns within the sidebox.

Hi

Has anyone else got this working with 1.3.8a with images? I think this is a crucial mod which everyone should use as people tend not to scroll down past the fold. I can only get this working with the original script without images, the files attached do not work for me and the page only half loads until the script is processed.

Any ideas?

I haven't checked this thread in a while! ...but if you're still interested, yes, it does work in 1.3.8a.

You need to install the old cross sell mod (1.3.0) from here: http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...products_id=76

Then, install the xsell sidebox mod from here: http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...oducts_id=1182, but make sure to replace tpl_xsell_sidebox.php and xsell_sidebox.php with the files I attached in my previous post.
