How to add additional attribute for admin.

My issue is this:

I need to extend the product info. I need to add width/height/depth for some products. These attributes is not optional attributes for customer to input or choose when he want to order some products. These attributes is for admin to define them when adding or editting the products info.

Can I do it? If can, how to do it?

But it's not just for informational purposess. These attributes maybe used for searching, statistics purposes.

You might add more about what it is that you are trying to do as there is no default admin interface/code for using what ever you are trying to do and some one in the community might have a parable that you can adapt
