red flag How to restrict to just one product in the cart per customer?

I know this is against the main purpose of a "cart," but I would like to restrict the ability of a user to add more than 1 product to their cart.

With my store, although they choose from a few products, each customer will only ever buy 1 product at a time, so I want to make sure they aren't able to add more than one to their cart to avoid problems.

I've figured out how to set a maximum quantity, which restricts users from adding more than one OF THE SAME product, but they can still add multiple different products.

A long story short... how to only ever allow ONLY ONE product in the cart? Right now I have 4 total products all in the same category if that helps.

    Thanks

There is a Minimum Order add-on that could probably be adapted to manage Maximum Order ...

Sounds rugged but I'll give it a try... I'm not much of a coder but more of a "delete-that-section-of-code-when-someone-says-that-will work" type of guy

    I'll take a peek
