    red flag excessive resources usage

    Hi,

I've received a mail from my hoster this morning, I had excessive resources usage on my shared hosting, server nearly crash they told me.

    Here is the review:

    CPU usage: 8.31
    Memory usage: 1.17
    MySQL usage: 0.4
    Top Process %CPU 67.0 /usr/bin/php
    Top Process %CPU 59.0 /usr/bin/php
    Top Process %CPU 56.0 /usr/bin/php

I receive a lot of order, in 2 months activity I already have 1400 accounts and 2000 orders

I receive orders by mail, so on my Zen Cart all the orders are kept in the first stage, and I don't validate anything, so is this the reason why it makes the server to crash???

    Thanks a lot

unless your the only person on the server allthey did was grab a copy paste of the first coupla lines of TOP in ssh,.

these resources are shared thye will need to show you something that shows that your site is causing the issue

    Thanks for your answer

actually they send me these informations so I can't let them suspend my account otherwise it's gonna be a big loss of money and even los of customers.

Could it be because of my 2000 orders stays in the first stage?

The time they send me this mail was 30 minutes after I make a daily DB backup through CPANEL, could it be the cause?

what Im trying to tell you is that is this is a shared server then those numbers represent the entire server,

I told them already but they said that the process come from my account, from my /usr/bin/php

Even if they're wrong if they decide to suspend my account they will...

If the timing is the same as when you're doing backups, then they should be somewhat forgiving.

Otherwise demand from them some sort of backup option that doesn't penalize you for protecting your data.

Or else find a host who is less restrictive or understands the issues better.

They can't suspend you if you've moved elsewhere...

Dr Byte is right on, move to a host that understands and supports your business, not one that always threatens to suspense you. You cant work with those people.

Thanks to all, that's the first time I had to backup during the peak time of my website, I think this is the reason... I will avoid to do it again

    Thanks again.

also remember that you only need to backup the database, daily, you dont need to backup the entire fileset,
these only changes if you physically change them, so the set you saved to your local computer is fine.....
