    Default Resetting Customer ID and Order ID

    I am ready to take my site live and would like to reset the customer ID to start back at 1. I would also like to reset the order id.

    I have deleted all my test orders via the Admin panel (Customers - Orders) and Customers (Customers - Customers). However, when I create a new customer to test this the order id starts where it had left off prior to me deleting the customers.

    I'm constantly amazed at how many people ask for this, but then three weeks later come back and ask how to increase it to a much larger number so it doesn't look like their shop is "new" and that they've only been in business for a very short period of time.

    The order number and customer number is calculated by the database using autoincrement logic. If you want to reset it, you'll need to go to the raw database controls and reset the autoincrement counters. This is *not* recommended unless you're familiar with database management.

    Or, you could increase the number and start your order numbers at "100" or something, using the Admin->Tools->Store Manager option for that. You'll need to place another test order to do it though.

    Once I get everything reset, I will be creating a test account with a test order. I will then set my order numbers to start at 101.
