Default Need one time charge with Product Attribute Grid

    Hello Zenners!!

I have a product that is priced by attributes using the Product Attribute Grid (which I absolutely LOVE!). I need to add a one-time charge to the order IF this particular product is ordered regardless of the quantity.

If I add this charge as a base charge to the product, the customer will get hit for this charge multiple times if they select multiple quantities of a particular attribute.

An example would be if I were selling memory that has attributes of 1GB, 2GB & 4GB. Using the product attributes matrix, the customer can select multiple quantities of each type of memory. Now I want to add a one-time installation charge that is the same regardless of how many the customer orders.

Any ideas how I could add this one time charge and still use the product attribute grid???

Did you try adding to the Product an Attribute with the One Time Charge on it?

This is a setting in the Attributes Controller and you can add it to the existing attribute(s) or make a separate Attribute for this charge only ...

One time charges are based on the 1 charge to the Product without regard to the quantity ordered ...

If I try to add an additional attribute to the product that falls outside of the product attributes grid (for example a radio button that is always selected), it seems to break the product attribute grid.

I set up my attributes as follows....

I have an attribute called "Module Type" which is set up as a dropdown. I have another attribute called "Quantity" which is set up a a radio button, and has a single blank value assigned to it.

This creates a product attribute grid with 2 columns and x-number of rows. The left column is module type and the right column has boxes where the customer can enter the quantities.

That all works fine, but when I add another attribute (a radio button for example), it turns off the grid and my attributes that were in the grid revert back to a dropdown (where I cannot select individual quantities).

I though about just adding another value to the "Module Type" attribute called "service charge" and assigning the one-time charge to it, but that will put it in the product attribute grid. I have no way to insure that the customer actually selects that particular attribute let alone only select one.

    Any ideas???

You can add the One Time Charge with any/all of the attributes in a given Option Name group of values and which ever one is selected would manage this one time charge ...

So if you had the Option Name: Color you can add to the Option Values for Red, Blue and Green the One Time Charge and since only 1 color can be selected this would work ...

    Hi Ajeh,

I tried adding the one time charge to all the attributes, and it doesn't work the way I need it to. My product (call it product x) is priced by attributes, but I need to be able to assign this one time charge (lets say $100.00) to product x regardless of attributes and regardless of quantity of product x ordered.

So if I have product x with attributes red, green and blue showing in the grid format, and the customer selects qty-3 Red, qty-1 green, and qty-2 blue, it shows up in the shopping cart as...

Qty 3 Product x Color Red
Qty 1 Product x Color Green
Qty 2 Product x Color Blue

The customer gets hit with the $100.00 charge three times.
