What fields do search, search?

There is a regular search and advanced search. I see that there is a checkbox in the advanced search for 'Search In Product Descriptions'. Does that mean that product descriptions are not searched by default on the front page?

Exactly what fields are searched in each of the two searches?

Product Model

Meta Tag Description

This would leave me to believe that normal search does not search descriptions. What can we refine with advanced search? I thought it was just descriptions.

To go along with this...are there any tips/tricks for speeding up search results. My site has 300k products and the search results are just way too slow. With this many products, search is the way that customers will find what they want. However, i am pretty sure they won't wait around. My old platform, did not have this issue, but lacked many other things that zencart delivered on.

How could one set up a search on product model alone? It's not even an option in the advanced search.

to be honnest the search function of zen is very robtic but not at all user friendly, because it deliver many results, now the users wants to select the search function (filtering) withou ned to wrte more words.

look at open realty, the possibility to add extra fields for serh is so easy that is not comprable with zen.
