    Default perweightunit ISSUES!!!

I've been reading this forum for a few hours now, trying to figure ANYTHING out, and im completely lost on a few things, any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm trying really hard to use the perweightunit for my shipping, because i have mostly very small items, and then some very large items which would cost much more to ship, so per item is useless, and table rate.... that's a whole nother story.

I turned off all weights as directed, and all other shipping methods. I then typed in the amount that i wished to have the shipping cost for that item, into the weight box in that listing.

Then i go to check out to test it, and its some random number, i do not know what i am doing wrong! And its frusterating me to no end, ive messed with this thing so much tonight.

I'm entering the dollar amount into the weight box, forexample if i want an item to ship for $3.50 USD, im entering " 3.50" into the weight bbox, is this wrong? Can someone point me in the right direction? I'm clueless aparently, thanks to anyone in advance for your help, and sorry for my repetitive post, i promise ive read so many threads tonight on thsi matter

Keep in mind that the Per Unit perweightunit is using the products_weight field and using the "total weight" of the cart as the Shipping Charge ...

As such, you need to adjust in the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ... the Tare rates as well as the:
Enter the Maximum Package Weight you will ship

The default is 50.00 ... if the value is too low, it will try to "split" the total weight (your shipping costs) into boxes ...

As you are not using that setting, you would want to ensure that this setting is not too low ...

NOTE: if you have left some weights as 0 and 0 does NOT mean Free Shipping, then you need to turn that OFF in the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ...

NOTE: if 0 weight DOES mean Free Shipping, then you need to turn that ON in the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ... and install the Free Shipping freeshipper shipping module ...

What kind of shipping price do you get if you put into the cart a Product with the products_weight set to 3.50?

Well, with an item costing 7.99, and i set the weight to 3.50, in checkout it came to 6.50 shipping.

I have my tare settings as follows:

    Small To medium: 0:3

    Larger packages: 5000.00

I do have free shipping on, but only for 100.00 and over.

You said : NOTE: if you have left some weights as 0 and 0 does NOT mean Free Shipping, then you need to turn that OFF in the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ...

Forgive my ignorance, but im confused by that: First off, how do I turn it off? Just set it to zero? And second, I plan on editing my entire store, and adding individual "prices" for the weight fields for shipping, if in fact i can get this module to work, some ARE left at 0 currently, but only because I have not edited them yet, will these items effect the shopping cart total, even if im not including them in the shopping cart when i test the shipping for other items?

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me, i really appreciate it alot, and i apologize for my ignorance

Set your Tare to 0:0 ... it is adding $3.00 to your shipping ... usually that is 3lbs, however you are using the lbs to mean $$$ so now you have added in $3.00 ...

See if that works better for you ...

As to your 0 weight products ...

If you plan to run your store for real with 0 weight products you need to decide what to do about 0 weight and whether that means Free Shipping or not ...

If you merely have some 0 weight products because you haven't gotten around to them yet ... then this does not apply ...
