Did you check the list of bugs (and fixes) for version 1.3.8a? I think it's in the anouncement room or somewhere

I checked all the bugs thare are listed here http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=82619 and there is nothing posted there like what is going on with my attributes. I have tried to create a new product with new atributes and it does the same thing.
