ftp and file merge-how do you use them

I have downloaded Filezilla and Winmerge so I can change my template. Just not sure how to get started. Where do you find the list of files that starts with includes. I'm still gettig confused. Is this hard to do or am I just slow.

Neither, probably. What you need to do is point Filezilla to your host by entering the site URL (without the www) and your user name and password into the boxes at the top. The user name and password will usually be the same as you use to access your host's control panel. Then your site's files will appear in the panel on the right. The panel on the left should show your folders and files on your local computer. You can drag and drop between the two panels to download the files you want to edit and upload them back to the server.
Don't forget to create your template override folders first.
