Nav bar separators

I like the way the nav bar in the header dynamically changes based on the user's logged in state. I was going to use EZ pages to create the nav bar, but I lose this effect. While I was playing with the EZ pages, i was able to use a graphic as a link separator. I would like to use the main nav bar and incorporate images as separators as i did in the EZ pages. I would also like to center it.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I found the float property that toggles the alignment, but I still need help with the image separators. Do I just need to use an image bullet? if so, on which tag?
