how do I display multiple items on one row?

Here's a good question, I've been searching everywhere, and I've seen some people do it, but I can't figure it out.

My cart seems to default to displaying 1 item per row...i've been lurking here for days...

Any suggestions how do I go about making multiple items show up on a single row.
