The customer has to have html selected in their account to receive html mail.
I found this while testing, so added a test customer with the html option selected and it all worked fine.
Thanks. However, thats not it. I have a test account in which the preference is defined as html but the emails are still arriving in text format, without my store's logo. Could the problem have something to do with the email transport method ? I'm using PHP.

The 'Use MIME HTML When Sending Emails' option has to be set to true I believe. You can also have the html mail option set as the default option when customers create an account.
admin>config>customers details>customer default email preference. Set to 1.
I've done all that. Unfortunately, doesn't change anything. Wierd. As usual, its something simple which will take a while to pinpoint !

How do you know they're "sent" in text format?
You only confirmed that they "arrived" in text format.
Check out step 12 of this FAQ and see what it reveals. Then read and follow the rest of the document from the beginning.
