Grainy images

Ok with the help of you wonderful folks here I have managed to figure out how to get images in my products, however they look like why? How do I fix this. They look fine in my photo editing software Coral Paint Shop Pro. Any help would be so appreciated.

Image quality is a "silk purse, sow's ear" story. The higher the quality of your original images, the higher the quality they will be reendered.

I have found that Image Handler 2 (IH2) helps considerably in rendering smaller images in a better quality.

However, if you want an image to display smaller than its original size, you should resize a copy of it in your photoshop or other software so it is exactly the pixel size you want.

If you let the browser resize a large image to a thumbnail, you will get a quick & dirty shrinking which may look pixelated. IH2 may use a good shrinking method.

Scan/ photograph as big an image as possible.
You can always scale down, not so good scaling up.
Also, don't compress them too much.

Thanks. I do start with a very large image and size down always from the largest image. I also do make each of my images as close as possible to the sizes I have set in my images admin, but I still get the grainy pics. I did notice that the images I use that I took with my digitial camera looked great no matter what size I made them. Only the images that I am using created by the software I use to make my embroidery designs looks . Grrr I have no way to produce all the images via a digital camera.

I just downloaded the image handler 2, and now just need to figure out how to install it and use it. I hope with will help make the images better since my business is dependent on people being able to see as much detail as possible in my products.
