[Done v1.3.9] Gift voucher / coupon redemption error

Hi folks, I - or more accurately my customers have just found what looks to me like an error in the shopping cart interface.

Customer has a gift voucher code. Customer doesn't understand there is a difference between gift voucher and a discount coupon. Customer enters the gift voucher code into the discount coupon box during checkout and proceeds - presses enter/whatever. The screen refreshes and the store cheerfully tells them:

Congratulations you have redeemed the Discount Coupon

Of course it isn't a discount coupon so nothing happens to their order total. Their account is not credited with the gift certificate value - it remains unredeemed. Customers continues checkout assuming all is well. Contacts me later because they aren't happy that they got charged for their order even though they redeemed a gift certificate to pay for it.

Can someone try this on their store and see if you get the same result? I suspect you will do because I don't have anything fancy set up to mess with this core functionality.
