    Default xhtml?

    Hi,

I was wondering something. I know that in order to change layout, we have to go into the style.css and do the changes there to reflect the change.

However, if I want to take a look at the xhtml output or make changes from there, how should I do that? Or is there actually an xhtml file that exists? Does this just show dynamically once the style.css is done but can't be revised from there?

The XHTML that is rendered by the browser is assembled from a whole lot of code. This code resides in the many .php files in the many folders that altogether make up the Zen Cart system.

Ideally, all layout issues are dealt with via stylesheets and all code via the PHP code, but ZC isn't quite ideal in that respect. As well, as you've noticed, you may have to change the code to effect the change you want.

If you have no experience writing or even reading code, making these sorts of changes in the PHP can be daunting to say the least. But there's a good chance that others have already figured out how to do what you want to do. So just ask a specific question -- the more specific the better -- and in the right part of the forum, and someone will help you out, I'm sure.

    Rob
