cannot get medium and large images to display correctly

Hi ,
i have been round and round in circles trying to get the images function to work correctly. I have uploaded a thumnail size image (100x80 pixels) via the product page in the admin to a folder called images\slatwallproducts\singleaccessoryarm.jpg
I have then created a medium size image(200x200 pixels) and renamed it with _MED and uploaded via ftp to images\medium\slatwallproducts\singleaccessoryarm_MED.jpg
Then i created the large image (800x362) and renamed it with _LRG and uploaded it via ftp to images\large\slatwallproducts\singleaccessoryarm_LRG.jpg

so i have......
images\slatwallproducts\singleaccessoryarm.jpg
images\medium\slatwallproducts\singleaccessoryarm_MED.jpg
images\large\slatwallproducts\singleaccessoryarm_LRG.jpg

My problem is the medium and large images do not display , the medium image does not appear in the product info page(only the small thumbnail shows) and when you click on the image to goto the larger image, it again still only displays the small thumbnail sized image.

i hqve tried just about everything without sucess, the only way i can get the 3 different sizes is if i upload a large image via the admin for the product, but when i do that it automatically resises the images for the thumbnail and the resulting images look horrible as they have jagged lines on them, you can see an example of this here

The paths all look correct to me. Not sure why that's not working.

Have you considered using Image Handler 2? You can simply upload just the large version and IH2 will resize the image for you and it will do a good job.

Thanks for the quick response, as i say, i have tried just about everything without sucess, its got me stumped. I did try image handler 2 but when i use it is makes the small thumnbnail pics appear with jagged edges and they dont look very good at all, you can see an example here

think i have got it working now using image handler, i had to delete the products and start again, dont know why but on the old products the image handler was not resizing the image.

Still have a problem where even if i create a new product the image handler doesnt work correctly, i just have to either delete and start again, or copy a product that is working ok and edit it.
