URGENT - After lightbox and hoverbox3, Products not viewable in IE

These lightbox and hoverbox mods really screwed up my site. Thankfully, nobody here at the shop listens to me when I tell them to BACK UP THE DATABASE DAILY! That would make this way too easy to fix.

I have completely removed hoverbox3, it's files and sql entries in my database.

I reinstalled zen_lightbox_1-4-UPDATED hoping it would fix the problem. It hasn't.

Even if I disable zen lightbox, it still gives the same error in internet explorer.

Firefox works fine with everything. I can't tell our customers to all switch if they want to shop our site.

I need an sql uninstall script to remove lightbox from my database so I can get this up and running again..... if that's even the problem.

Okay, I found a temp fix. I went into my /includes/templates/mytemplate/jscript/ folder and deleted all of the lightbox.js files. Now it's working in IE, but I still need to figure out why neither Lightbox or Hoverbox is working in IE. I'll probably have to pay my host to give me a backup of from a week ago.

If these lazy slackers here at the office would take a minute out of their day to back up the site..... I guess that's asking too much though.

A little success... I used myphpadmin from my host admin site and riped out all of the zen lightbox entries. More problems though,...

When I enable Hoverbox3, Internet explorer still freaks out.

I think what happened was, lightbox deleted something from my sql database that hoverbox is trying to pull up. When I validate my site on the W3C site, it tells me that there is an error in one of the files that hoverbox replaces.

It says:

   This message may appear in several cases:
   
   • You tried to include the "<" character in your page: you should escape it as "&lt;"
   • You used an unescaped ampersand "&": this may be valid in some contexts, but it is recommended to use "&amp;", which is always safe.
   • Another possibility is that you forgot to close quotes in a previous tag.

and...

Both of those errors are in the \includes\templates\mytemplate\jscript\ic_hoverbox_config.php file

It notice that the script that lightbox1.4 runs on the sql database during install, it deletes some strings. I'm no sql guru by ANY means. I was lucky to find the spot in myphp admin to delete the entries for lightbox.

I'd really like to get this problem fixed, and have hoverbox working in IE.

Does anybody have any idea what is going on???

What I do know is as a procedure that everyone ahould adhere to without question is:

Before making any edits/additions to a Database - BACKUP. BACKUP, BACKUP

Very true. I got a week old backup. The manager (who is responsible for backing up the site) will just have to eat a week of lost data. Maybe He'll start backing up the site from now on.

If YOU ripped out the entries - YOU should have made a backup before doing so

depending on your hosting control panel and host you should be able to have a db backup configured to run daily.

Your issues don't seem all to difficult to correct. do you have a link for me to look at?

The error wont show up in IE right now, as I have hoverbox disabled. I've got to figure what to do to fix it. If I enable it, the sites products are 100% inaccessible to users with IE, which is the majority of them. Now if everybody would just be wise and switch to firefox, this wouldn't even be an issue.

hi, i have a similar problem with my testshop. with Firefox everything is fine but with IE6 and IE7 the products are inaccesible. when i turn hoverbox off the problem is gone. (i don't have lightbox installed). Any help would be very appreciated!

I ripped out the entries after the problem was happening. And I did back it up before modifying it.

My host uses cpanel... is there a way to have an auto backup, or is it host specific?
