When I make simple edits, things break.

New zenner. When I make simple changes in english.php (for example changing name of Page 2 to FAQ), part of the site stops displaying information. I'm using the override system and when I rename the modified copy of english.php to something else, the site works correctly so I know that's the problem. I think I'm careful when I make changes.

I'm using an editor named HTML-kit, an open source app.

So just what is happening and what do I need to know to make successful changes.

Don't use an html editor to edit php files. Get Notepad++ or Crimson Editor. Both are free downloads from the internet and don't mess up php files.
