I have hunted around but haven't found an answer for my need ... hopefully somebody has done this before and can help ...

I need to build a 'store' that we can send people to as part of a promotion. The visitor will have a physical coupon with a code on it which gives them a certain amount of 'value' to spend.

Having selected the items they wish to redeem they need to checkout so we can capture their name / address etc. During checkout I need to force them to enter the coupon code and verify that they have spent only the value they have been 'given' - there is no facility for them to pay 'extra' or to keep part of the 'value' of the code.

Not sure (first time I have tried to setup Zen Cart) whether discount coupons or gift certificates are a better answer - I need to pre-define all the acceptable coupon codes (which need to be in a particular format) - need to produce 4 or 5 thousand codes to be pre-printed - and obviously have to have coupons which can only be used once ....

Any help or suggestions very welcome ... I'm hoping this system will be able to help me save a lot of money on having somebody write a specific website for a 3 week long campaign!
