help question Dropdown Options for a Customizable Product

    Hey there,

    My website is www.RabbitLights.com.

I need to make a product I sell on my website customizable. It's kind of hard to grasp if you don't know what it is so I'll explain. I sell keychain lights, and I sell items made out of these keychain lights. One specific example is a 4-light orbit, found at http://rabbitlights.com/index.php?ma...&products_id=6 .

I am getting in new keychain lights next week that are in different colors (red, green, blue, purple, white, pink, amber, rainbow) and basically I string these keychains together (4 of them for this product) into an orbit. I want people to go to the page for the orbit, and then be able to select exactly which keychains they want to use in the orbit. So, they would go to the page, and I would have drop down menus like this:

Light 1: [drop down menu with all options]
Light 2: [drop down menu with all options]
Light 3: [drop down menu with all options]
Light 4: [drop down menu with all options]

And then when they submit it, I recieve an order for exactly that product (with the kind of lights they specify).

If I COULD, which I am unsure of, if some of the lights are more/less expensive than others, could it also show the price and change the final price of the product?

How the hell do I impliment something like this? I seriously have no idea. Could I do this in ZenCart?

I wanted to avoid radio buttons because there are just so many options but it's a possibility.

A last ditch option would be a form you just write-in but it would be messy and terrible and I'd rather avoid that.

I'm sorry if something like this was already asked. I'm just totally lost. I don't know IF i could do something like this, nor do I even know how to code it, at all.

    Thanks.

    Samantha

Not the way you have presented it

Create attributes for option names light1, light1. etc with option values for each color.
    Add attributes to product

Then this product it would be presented similar to this:

    Product:

    Four Light Keychain:

    Please select colors:

Light 1: [drop down menu with color options]
Light 2: [drop down menu with color options]
Light 3: [drop down menu with color options]
Light 4: [drop down menu with color options]

    With ZC that's totally possible.

Use attributes and make the item 'priced by attributes'

Look in the product settings and attributes pages.

Thanks, both of you. I had no idea how to even begin doing this.
