How do I create a forum for people to talk about our products and ask questions?

Select and install one of the forum scripts available at opensourcecms.com

And in the left column select forums

I would suggest simplemachines.org

Its a nice, secure free forum.

If the host has Fantastico it will make it much easier for you to install the script.

I suggest never using Fantastico for an install that you want to maintain

It is ok for an evaluation install but once you find the one you like - download a distro from their portal and many are at SourceForge

phpBB is the simpliest forum ever found, it has a large community groups with tons of mods and themes and supports, IPB's design is beautiful. VB is very expensive for a forum script

Give me a break, maybe simple in terms of set-up, but if you want to integrate or look behind the scenes at the code, forget about it.. complex, complex, complex!
That is not to say that I don't love phpBB, because I do think it is the greatest free forum - in terms of overall power. And it is fairly simple in terms of management.

On another note, I'm looking at Vanilla Forum, and I like what I see. It looks like you can integrate it into Wordpress, which means that if you have Wordpress integrated into ZenCart, then you could have all three.

I will give it a shot and report back with the results...
