I had no problems before except when editing through ftp. I have turned off the option of auto detection and can live with only uploading fresh files.
On to translating all 1000 products.

and what collation did you use in the mysql database ? (greek_general_ci ?)
webskipper,
The files of the language pack you should only have to edit them once. So I am not sure what the benefit is of editing via ftp. I tried it and it is too much troubles and too slow. Also I prefer to have always a back up. I am editing the files with Edit Pad pro because it has the Convert/Text Encoding function that allows you to edit files on using the correct character encoding.
Vasilios,
I have tried different charsets but they do not work especially if you run a multilingual cart. I found the only one that does the job is UTF-8 Unicode (utf8) . You got to watch though when you backup the database and try to reimported but it works nicely once you get use to it.
