If store is built can I switch templates?

I am so basic at this it's not funny!
I have eveything set up almost the way I like but if I wanted to change the template will my products and layout just get applied to the new template or will I have to start from scratch??

If you choose another template, your categories and products will still be there, but your design will change - that's the point of a new template.

Anything that is changed in your old template override folders will revert to the default when you change templates.

You can copy your override files to new folders for the new template
