Default Yellow Error Message Re: attributes

    Can't figure this one out.

Problem: I set up my option name: Size. Then I set up my option values: Small, Medium, Large, X-Large, etc.

I went in to Attributes Controller and selected Category > Product, then clicked "Display". I proceeded to add my desired attribute name + value and hit "Insert". I only needed one attribute value for this product (Medium). Everything looked good to me. I then do a test purchase of that item on my site by selecting the "Medium" attribute that appeared for that product...suddenly a yellow error box appears above saying, "Please correct the following: On the Option for: Size You picked an Invalid Selection: Medium"

    What did I miss?

You can't have the attribute you want to use as "display". Normally you would create a value "Select" and make it display and the choices normal. Having a value set as display is exactly that. It will display but you can't pick it.

    Hope this helps.

Sorry, but I'm not following you. Can you explain in further detail?

To elaborate on my problem: Let's say, you're a customer on my site. You see a t-shirt that you like and you select your size (Medium) --which I have set up proper attributes for. When you make your selection, a yellow error message pops up above the item saying, "Please correct the following: On the Option for: Size You picked an Invalid Selection: Medium"

The "display" part that I mentioned previously is what Zen Cart makes you select with the cursor when you choose the item you want to add attributes for...so I'm not really following what you're saying below.

    Thanks for your help!

In the admin attributes controller each option value can be set as display only.

Say you had a shirt that was available in small,medium,large..

You would create an option name called "Size"

Then you would create 4 option values.

    "Select"
    "Small"
    "Medium"
    "Large"

When you add the values to the item you would have the yellow box that says used for display purposes only on for the value "Select" and off for all the others. It sounds like you have only one value "Medium" and have it checked to display only, thus you can not select it.
