Just a general question.

I figure I can’t be the only one dealing with more than one currency. So I was wondering what other people did.

You have 2 methods of payment. Local currency regular CC processing and PayPal IPN for PayPal or other currency CC processing. I’ll say CAD (local) since I’m in Canada but it could be any local currency.

Looks easy and straight forward. However you get a client that picks his own (US) currency in the side box and buys something for let’s say 120$US. On check out he doesn’t pick the PayPal CC processing but the regular CC option.

He proceeds through the check out. Gets his confirmation e-mail stating Thank you, bla bla… Total: 120$US.

However the charge to his card was in the local CAD currency, and the final amount on his card being dependant on the CC exchange rate on his end is different then what he saw on the check out screen. Let’s say 122.20$US

So he checks his confirmation e-mail and his account history and they all say 120$US

Then he drops you’re a line from your nice little Contact Us page.
You $^*%^@# you overcharged me.

I soooo see this happening.

So my question is how do others that deal with more than one currency, especially if they have more than just PayPal as a method of payment deal with avoiding that situation.

Any thoughts, and experiences are appreciated.
