You need to go to PayPal, get your PDT Token, then enter it into you PayPal Payment Module in your Zen-Cart Admin.
PDT Token (Payment Data Transfer)
Enter your PDT Token value here in order to activate transactions immediately after processing (if they pass validation).
Hope this helps.

in the paypal express module there is no pdt token. in the paypal IPN module there is. Am I missing something here ?
Well, I'm not sure, but I would try it, anyway. I've got both installed, and have never had any problems, messages, or warnings. And it's telling you that a "Token" is missing, and that's the only place to enter the PDT Token. Just guessing that that will take care of this problem.
Hope this helps. Let us know.

PDT is irrelevant for Express Checkout.

Can you trigger it to happen on demand? If so, at what stage does it get sent?
ie: do a checkout, but take 3-5 minute break between EACH page you click to, until done. Find out when the email arrives vs which stage you were at.
Or was it just a one-time scenario?
