I'm using 3.7 because that was available on my server. Thought I'd start basic, try not to get in over my head.

well, you do have a templates folder.
Right click on the logo and choose view image in firefox, you will see it is at /includes/templates/classic/images/logo.gif

it is /includes/templates/ you need to copy any themes to.

Much better! I was in the wrong includes folder. Started over, and loaded fresh files.

Now the site displays the elegant silver zen cart. However, the main page is missing products and shows the following error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: zen_get_generated_category_path_rev() in /home/amedea/public_html/includes/modules/zj_silver/new_products.php on line 68

Can you translate?

You are getting there but still have some install problems.
This error has nothing to do with the template, it is your ZenCart install.
You seem to be missing something from your includes/functions folder.
I'd suggest uploading all files from ZenCart again.

You're right, anthonyd. There does seem to be something wrong with the install. Fortunately, there isn't much built, so will start again.

For what it's worth, this error was fixed by uploading the 1.3.8 copy of includes/functions/functions_categories.php. The error appeared in a couple of places, and this one file seems to have patched the problem without introducing new ones (that I can find so far).

I'm not saying this is the ultimate answer, but it does make the index page usable without the major surgery of a full update.

The ZJ Black template template is looking great. Are you setting up the columns so they can be set on either side? Single or double?

Having the controls in the admin to do the following would be awesome:

1.) be able to set single or double columns on the right, left or right and left.

2.)be able to set the collapse feature and the hide feature on the side bars on and off.

The ajaxed tabbed "bestsellers/featured/sale/new" on the home page box is really nice. Is that going to be stock in the template? Also the buttons are very well done on both the silver and black templates. This is going to be a really slick Web 2.0 presentation for Zen Cart.

If this plays well with Tabbed Products Pro, that would be a big plus. Since you are doing tabs in the "bestsellers/featured/sale/new" box in jquery somewhere on the todo list for the future version could be to use your jquery library to do the same thing in your template.

Keep up the good work. This is an exiting edition to Zen Cart.
