drop down sub categories in categories nav bar

Hi, very new here, have figured out a lot from searching these posts but cant seem to find anything on how to have a drop down menu of subcategories from the categories navigation bar, or just something that will show the subcategories in this bar. I'm wanting to keep my layout really simple and don't like the look of having any sideboxes, just want the top categories nav bar but this doesn't show the sub categories. Is it possible to do this? I looked at the downloads for drop downs but they all seem to be either for the header or the categories side box not the categories navigation bar.

Any info would be greatly appreciated even if it's to tell me I can't do it so I can move on.

Hi Charmedbytina2 no that's not what I'm looking for, I'm wanting the drop down to be on the categories navigation bar not the main nav bar, where you've got your list of categories above the main nav bar, that's where I want to be able to have a drop down to sub categories. Here's link to the site so you can see I just have my whole site nav bar in the header and below that my categories/tabs menu this is where I want the drop down so subcategories are accessible by a single click rather than having to go to the category page and then click on the subcategory to get to the product listing.

There is another version of that dropdown menu (used in the link above) that WILL list your Main Categories separately.

After installing the mod, you can remove the links you don't want by editing the tpl_drop_menu.php file and relocate (if needed) the entire menu by editing the tpl_header.php.

I *think* that would achieve what you are going for.
