Chaging Shipping Rates for each additional item

I've got shipping set up to charge per each item ordered. OK, no problem there. However, the client wants it where he charges less per each item ordered.

For example, the first item would be $3 then the second item would be $2 followed by the third and all future items at $1. Can this be done in Zen?

Item Rate item shipping module would allow you to set the Shipping & Handling to 2.00 and the Item Charge to 1.00 which gives you:

1st item $3.00
2 items: $4.00
3 items: $5.00

This does not have the additional charge for the 2nd item ...

However, if you were crafty, you could clone the Item Rate item shipping module and alter the calculations to do this and charge 2 separate handling charges for 1st and 2nd item ...
