Sharing a database between stores

I am thinking of setting up another store on a separate domain name, which will use the same products as an existing store.
So in theory all the descriptions, stock qunatities, etc are already there to be used.

Does anyone know how changes to one site (in terms of salemaker or specials) will affect the pricing on the other site? i.e. If I create a sale on one site, will that sale also exist on the second site - or does salemake work independently of the pricing in the database?

I hope this makes sense. Please could anyone let me know if they have experience of this?

There was a mod being developed that you could run mutiple stores fromt he same backend and change products depending on what store your looking at , i tested it for a while .
