That's because you're seeing the new-products centerbox, and not the actual product listing, which would only not display if you've customized something which stops the real product listing content from showing.

I appreciate your reply, but it doesn't help me hash through what the problem is.
When you refer to "customized something" are you referring to the overall appearance of the cart? Meaning the template? Or are you referring to a php page or? Please forgive my ignorance but I need specifics in order to reply properly or try to pinpoint the problem.
The default product listing page consists of:
- header
- category title
- filter pulldowns
- actual product listing
- 4 centerboxes:
--- new products (if any)
--- featured products (if any)
--- specials (if any)
--- upcoming products (if any)
You've done something to your site that has broken the product-listing portion of that.
That could be in your template files and/or module files ... or ... depending on what exactly has been broken, could be in classes, functions, and other areas.
I'd start by looking at the customized template files, then modules.
I'd also look at what addons you've installed to see if any of those might be contributors to the problem.
The first thing I usually do in attempting to diagnose something that's eluding me is this: http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.p...Obscure_Issues

I could have used this information perhaps 8 days ago..
Thank you, but I am 14 days into this now and since I cannot pinpoint the problem at least your latest reply has given me a more direct answer to make a decision in dumping the project or continuing on.
This is like hunting for a needle in a haystack so I think it would be best if I reinstall or try a different cart. It was 4 days just to key in all the information from the 78 products, the time invested has done me in.
I appreciate your time nontheless.
Before I delete this cart to reinstall, is there a way to salvage the products keyed in rather than to have to key in all the products again?
There is a mod called Easy Populate that will do that.
Here's another - if it were me, I'd backup the database and then re-install the includes folder from a new zip file over top what you have now. Your overrides would still be there, but anything that got corrupted would be fixed.
Doesn't look like you have much to lose.
Then I'd delete all the non-template override files.
Your cart is, in fact showing 'New Products' in place of Product Listing. I don't think you could do that with just template changes.
Thats just it, I really haven't done all that much to change things other than using the settings in the way that I need to. (installed, added the template, changed settings on the shipping module, added the paypal payment info, then basically started keying in products and info)
But indeed at this point I have nothing to lose, I've already lost the time invested and have gotten nowhere so I may try doing that.
I just added the bottom previous - next buttons or links and now I can clearly see how the products themselves are not showing in the categories and what is actually showing is the "new" products. What DrByte posted actually makes sense now but without that type of clarification I had no clue as to what he was referring to.
I'm so frustrated at this point I'm really not sure which path to take in resolving the issues, another week of starting over and praying things work when I get back to this point or trudging through trying to find the broken issues. Either way I've looked at this stuff until my eyes are crossed.
Thank you again stevesh, I value your input.
What happens if you switch your template (via the admin) back to classic?
