help question Access Hosts in MySQL ?

I am trying to install Zen Cart on my web host. It is quite different than installing it on my local laptop with the aid XAMPP... So, I am trying to manually create a MySQL database using the cPanel that is provided by my web host.

Most of it is pretty straightforward but the last field asks "Access Hosts". It was pre-populated with 192.168.1.% and localhost.

I understand that it is better for localhost to be there. But why should 192.168.1.% be there?

What other IP net masks (or addresses) should I place there?

On a remote server you should just need " localhost ".

The 192.168.1.... looks like your home ip configuration (are you using a netgear router?)

... On the other hand, it may be something to do with your host's ip set-up. Call them and ask before removing anything.

    Hi.
not sure if this will help but I'm in the process too of installing Zen.

With my Host, under Control Panel is a "Domain Management" section.

    This then contains "My SQL"

When I click on this tab it gives me all of the settings I need

My one looks like this for the SQL bit for Zen:

    mysql3.iomart.com

I too found that "Localhost" was not accepted.

Belated thanks for your replies. When I contacted my web host's tech support, I was advised to simply uninstall and re-install Zen Cart or... use Fantastico.

I ended up using Fantastico. It works well.
