Customer download gets error message

Hi,

When a customer tries to download a download purchase, the following error comes up

You don't have permission to access /shop/pub/.nbkcxclbcikctcwsffo/808_rimshot.mp4 on this server.

I've tried the permissions for the pub folder on both 755 and 777 but it hasn't fixed it.

Can someone shed some light?

Apologies for the bump but my site has gone live and I really need to solve this problem. Half of my products are mp3 and mov downloads, so I really need to fix this!

We faced the same problem i think. i am getting "server could not find at pub" something like that. I still don't know how to fix it yet. I am asking some people at thread started by me few days ago. I let you know if i get to know how fix it. Please let me know too if you get around that problem.

i did solve my issue on the Pub. It seems that you may want to check the path where your downloads are. It is in the configure.php i think. Like in my case, just to share my experience, i checked my configure.php. and i found that my DIR_FS_DOWNLOAD path is not correct so i correct it and i also saw i got extra "/" infront the Pub. so i take it out and thats fix my problem.

e.g. i look at these lines, maybe a fluke but it fix my problem.

define('DIR_FS_DOWNLOAD_PUBLIC', DIR_FS_CATALOG . '/pub/'); ---> wrong!

and i checked

//the following path is a COMPLETE path to your Zen Cart files. eg: /var/www/vhost/accountname/public_html/store/

define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/');
define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/');

okay these fine

... blah blah blah

and

define('DIR_FS_DOWNLOAD', DIR_FS_CATALOG . '/home/your username if applicable/your store/'); ---> i had my error here and fix it
define('DIR_FS_DOWNLOAD_PUBLIC', DIR_FS_CATALOG . 'pub/'); ---->also had my error here and i fix it

i dont know how to better explain this as your problem may be unique. so wish you luck and i will not be responsible for anything happen to your site.

Is this a windows-based server?

also,

What setting do you have in

admin->configuration->attribute settings->download by redirect

does changing this setting help ???
