Default Is there a way to automate tax rates? - Third party services?

    hello,

I am looking for a service (or mod if possible) that would figure out the tax rates based upon zip code and apply the appropriate rate to my orders that are delivered to certain states where we must charge tax.
    This is for US only.

I am trying to avoid having to create all the different zones and rates and keep them updated. It could be hundreds.

    I have stumbled upon this:
    http://www.strikeiron.com/ProductDet...px?p=351&tab=0

But I am looking for a solution which may be easier to implement or just seeing if there are other options out there.

I have not found any shopping carts that do this type of thing, yet it seems that it would be so common.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

My guess would be that since most people who use carts like Zencart are smallish businesses, they just don't bother charging tax except in their home states (where necessary), so the demand for such a service wouldn't be there.

If Amazon loses it's suit against New York (unlikely, IMO), you'll see services like you're looking for pop up like toadstools.

I understand this concept and the logic seems appropriate, however, with such a large usage base in the zen-cart commmunity, I am sure someone has a larger store which must use a service like this.

Does anyone know of a service or module which may address these issues?

Idea or Suggestion Re: Is there a way to automate tax rates? - Third party services?

If I build a sales tax module for zen-cart using Strikeiron, would you use it?

    If it works.
    Yes, Yes, Yes!!!!

My only question at this point would be, how quickly could you have it ready?
