I'm pretty new at this, but is it possible to change the category ID numbers in the admin panel or is it though PHP?

The problem is that I had to remove my main category and make a new one again. what's happened is that although I changed the sort order so that its on the top, when the site is crawled, that particular category comes up last in the meta string.

Does this make sense? I think I know enough just to be dangerous! This category is the one main group that I sell from, but its not even indexed on google because of this problem.

please help I would very much appreciate it.
