Default How do I let the customer choose color and size combinations?

Ok, I'm just going to cut to the chase and explain what I'm trying to do.

I am populating a clothing site I'm working on. We take minimum orders of 24 items, but within these orders the customer can make many choices. Basically, size and color combinations are my hurdle right now.

How do I go about this? The customer must have complete control when customizing their order, as we're working to eliminate phone calls and emails regarding orders. Automation and ease of use for the user is really important here.

Size and color are done with attributes - there's a mod here that makes multiple attributes neater:

    http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=876

You can set minimum order quantities on the product setup page and set the Qty Min/Unit Mix to Yes for any products that can be included in the 24.

but within these orders the customer can make many choices...

The customer must have complete control when customizing their order
The current version of Zen Cart does not have the ability to perform on dependant variables...

So your customer & attributes cannot not be split say into 6 each, red, blue, green, white for a total of 24

But you can check the mod to see what it might allow

This mod will do exactly what I need, as long as I can figure out how to customize the look of it. Thanks everyone!

Ok, I've got this mod installed, but now every single product is trying to use the grid. This is a bad thing, because not all of my products have size/color combinations. Some have only size options, no color options!

    Please help...

Check if there is a 3rd party support thread for this mod

    kobra,

There is, but the information contained there is insufficient. I spoke with several developers who have made it very clear to me that neither Zen Cart nor any current mods can meet these specific needs:

    Product Design (Actual Product)
    Product Attribute 1
--- Product Attribute 2 (Dependant on Attribute 1)
Quantity minimum of 24 per product design (NOT ATTRIBUTES)

Even the Product Attribute Grid mod cannot do this, as it outputs errors more or less stating that the order minimum is not being met.

If anyone knows a way around this, please let me know.

You'll need some really fancy custom code to make rules for dependent attributes.
Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

    Kim,

The problem is not so much dependent attributes, as this is somewhat handled by the Product Attribute Grid. My problem is using the minimum order requirement with these dependent attributes. When attempting to add to cart, the quantity numbers are not being added correctly. Instead, ALL attributes must have the minimum order requirement or I get a page full of error messages.

Is there any word on when such a feature will be implemented in Zen Cart? I would take on the task myself, but I am absolutely swamped with projects right now. I'm likely going to have to use something else for this specific site. After that, I want to get in contact with some individuals who are working on a Joomla! bridge... Zen's userbase would grow exponentially if we were able to get that implemented. I need such a feature for another project...
