email from contact us page showing my email not customers

Hello,

I created a few email for customers to contact in the contact us page. But when they email me it shows me that it was sent from the person name but the person email address was one of mines.

something like this.

email received:

From: Person's Name <[email protected]>
To: <[email protected]

Then the body.


[email protected] is one of my email. Shouldn't it show the person's email instead? So I cant reply to them because it would just reply to my customersupport email. Is something in the setup wrong or is that how it works?

This has not happened to anyone else? I guess im the unfortunate one.

This is correct behaviour. The contact us page takes the visitor's message and emails it to you. As the email has come from your site, it carries your email address.

Be grateful for this. If it used the visitor's email address you would be at risk of spam detectors spotting that the email address was being spoofed and blocking them.

The visitor's email address should appear in the body of the email as a link (assuming that they entered one).

Yes the visiter email is in the body. But i just wanted to know if this was normal. But ok now i know. thanks
